IS EUROPE READY TO FLY AGAIN?

European countries are gradually reopening  their borders, this is a fact we can observe everyday through governmental news. Entering the summer vacations is both the most requested period to book a flight and enjoy a trip after few quarantine months. Are airlines ready to fly again and carry passengers over the clouds? Thanks to our inflight network and researches we can share with you an updated sanitary status and airlines activity recovering for France, Germany, Italy, Spain and United Kingdom.

France

Borders are opened for all Europeans countries and quarantine period is not necessary at arrival since 15th June. The country will apply the same sanitary process to passengers from countries which ask for safe guarantee to passengers from France.

Regarding French inflight traffic, Air France schedule to recover 35% from initial July flight and 40% in August 2020. The airline is also opening again some international routes and is waiting for 150 available destinations by the end of summer 2020.

Germany

Borders are opened for all European countries and quarantine period is not necessary at arrival since end of June. Some sanitary equipment have been deployed in airports: mask, medical forms, thermal camera...

Lufthansa Group (including Lufthansa, Eurowings) just announce they will operate 90% of their short-haul flights and 70% of their long-haul flights by September for the airline and subsidiaries.

Italy

Borders are opened and all closed airports due to COVID have been opened again since start of June to welcome passengers. Sanitary process depends from the origin region.

Alitalia schedule 60% of 2019 traffic for the following months mainly thanks to the reopening of 750 weekly international flights from Roma Fiumicino.

Air Dolomiti, subsidiary of Lufthansa, schedule 90% of their short-haul flights and 70% of their long-haul flights by September.

Spain

Borders are opened for all European countries except Portugal and quarantine period is not necessary at arrival since the 21th June. Some sanitary equipment have been deployed in airports: mask, medical forms, thermal camera...

Iberia (including Iberia Express) schedule +50 destinations for this summer with short haul flight reopening

representing 194 weekly flights, mainly from Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suarez

Air Europa restarted operating domestic flights between following cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Vigo, Coruna, Valence, Alicante et Malaga. International flights are scheduled to open again from 15th July 2020 to 15 European countries and 13 to others destinations.

UK

Borders are opened and 14 days of quarantine period must be done at arrival.

However, we know from BBC the country will probably give access from July 6th to its territory without any quarantine period to at least 10 European countries including the Netherlands.
